50 years old, 50 pounds over-weight, excessively high  cholesterol and blood sugar levels approaching Diabetes; Jerry Shapiro had two  choices. Take medication for the rest of his life or change his life  style.  He was all too familiar with Diabetes; his wife is an insulin dependent  Type II Diabetic.

In 2003, with a nutritional plan, weight training, yoga and  an extraordinary amount of will power Jerry began his quest for the best. He turned his health around becoming a fitness guru, body building champion and  inventor of POWER POP, the  world's first protein enriched energy snack.

Jerry learned that a key element in weight management was to  satisfy cravings without sabotaging the diet. He also learned that he needed  adequate carbs to boost energy during his rigorous workouts. Jerry began  experimenting with flavoring one of his favorite, but bland, snack - air popped popcorn.

In the spring of 2004, Jerry teamed up with the Guelph Food Technology Center (GFTC - University of Guelph) to create a  unique popcorn creation – POWER POP PROTEIN PACKED ENERGY  SNACK.
